HEALTHCARE

Access to healthcare is a crucial factor in the fight against poverty. It is an inalienable right which Louvain Coopération has placed at the center of its projects. There are numerous factors which affect public health: education levels, the lack of drinkable water, the absence of decent housing, armed conflicts, migration, and natural and climatic catastrophes. All these elements can harm the health of populations which are already fragile.

ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE

Louvain Coopération improves and extends the range of services offered by a community health insurance. As the quality of healthcare is directly linked to its accessibility, these projects are carried out in close collaboration with the NGO’s healthcare programs. The improvement of healthcare services is supported by UCL’s Public Healthcare Department and our field staff to guarantee optimal patient care.

FOOD AND ECONOMIC SECURITY

Louvain Coopération works with populations to develop farming practices, livestock farming and fishing activities. The goods produced can then be sold or used to feed families. In addition, the NGO’s experts improve household storage capacities. By building storage spaces, families can build up reserves and protect themselves against hunger.

As a university NGO, Louvain Coopération is also active in Belgium, at the three campuses of the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL), in Louvain-la-Neuve, Mons and Woluwe. One of the university’s challenging tasks is teaching students about service to society and education. As UCL’s NGO, Louvain Coopération shares this mission with the university.
