SUPPORT
PROJECTS IN THE SOUTH
Being a Solidarity Student means, at your own level, taking action in solidarity with the projects of your university's NGO, Louvain Coopération. This is why half of the funds raised are allocated to one of our projects in the South.
This year, the project supported is that of women's empowerment in our countries of intervention.
"Before I received training, I was not able to write a small letter to my husband or family. I had never dared to dream of having a leadership position in addition to my status as a married woman and mother. The literacy training not only taught me to read, calculate and write, but above all convinced me that I am created in the image of all men and that I have the same rights as them. The first time I dared to run for a leadership position, I was elected president of the association "15 women". Everyone is counting on me in this structure where I am responsible and a manager. I would be happy to see Louvain Coopération go ahead with literacy in all the communities that house other women marginalised by illiteracy (like me in the past) so that they can help them too. Even in my community the needs are still enormous." Tantine Rhandika, 31 years old
